I Dreamed A Dream

I have started practising this song on my own, to make sure that i knew the song well enough to sing it without seeing the lyrics. I had a trouble singing "shame" as it s held for a longer time than any other note in the song, it also ascends in pitch as it is sung, i found that i didn't have enough a breath to sing the whole note. To make sure that i did have enough breath i had to take a breath after "dream", after this i found this easier.
Friday 23rd January 2015 - When singing this song today i had problems with my pitching especially when singing "no song unsung" i found that i was singing flat. To improve this i had to sing this phrase with the backing and without, this allowed me to hear the note that i was supposed to sing so that i could sing it correctly.
Monday 26th January 2015 - My pitching was better in this rehearsal compared to last rehearsal, this is because I had practised after last rehearsal. I did this by singing the song to my friend who had the words in front of her and every time I sung a wrong note, she circled it. This was so I could see where I was most likely to go off pitch, after this I focused on these parts to make sure that I sung them correctly. Today I focused on characterisation during rehearsals, this is important so that the meaning of the song is portrayed enough for the audience to know what the song is about. I did this by using different facial expressions
to make the performance more interesting rather than just standing there singing with a non expressive face.
