First Run Through Of Our Country's Good
In todays lesson we did our first full run through of the play. The first physical theatre scene went well, when we first started we were standing up holding each other up, when we are like this we are gently swaying to show the movement of the ship. When we drop down we are supposed to keep swaying, however when we did it today we didn't, in the next run through we need to make sure that we continue to sway so that it is clear that we are on the ship still, as we are moving with it. When the music changes we all have to get off of the ship, this worked well today because everyone in the scene reacted appropriately. For example some of us covered our eyes, to show that the convicts were not used seeing the light as we have been locked away in the dark for months. We also bent down to the floor and picked up sand with our hands, this is also because we are not used to seeing the outside. When we made the transition into scene 3, I have to start my line when the aboriginal music is still playing. When we did this scene today I noticed that I need to go over my lines because I was getting confused with different cue lines and therefore we missed out large parts of the text. To improve on this me, Pheobe, Alex and Abi need to work on this scene together so that we can all get used to our cue lines so that we can say our correct lines. As well as this I think that personally I need to move around the space more comfortably so that my characterisation improves more.
