Singing In Parts
In this lesson we focused on singing in parts, this is where they are different people singing different things at the same time and is used as an exercise to improve concentration when singing. Firstly we sung "Wombowe", to do this we split into 3 groups, one group sung the main melody another group sung the backing line and the last group sung the "wombowe"s. After singing this and getting used to hearing different things whilst singing something else we slit into 4 groups. The other group sung a harmony line, one group started and then we joined in gradually, and then each group faded out.
After this we sung "Don't stop believing" and "Someone like you" we split into two groups and sung them at the same time, at first it was hard to get the right timing of the song as we were both singing with the same melody line. However after singing it a few times all together it became easier, we started standing in two lines, the front line singing one song and the back singing another song. This was so we could hear the same song that we were singing because both people that were next to us were in the same group as us. After this we mixed with the other class who were also singing the same songs as us, however this time we stood in random places in the group. This meant that we had to focus more on what we were singing rather than relying on listening to others around us.
